Dr. Karina Fulton

Dr. Karina Fulton earned her undergraduate degree at Lake Forest College, focusing on Biology and Neuroscience with a minor in Spanish. Dr. Karina studied for her Doctor of Optometry degree at Illinois College of Optometry. Dr Karina completed a year of residency training at a VA hospital to further excel in ocular disease knowledge. Dr. Fulton has over a decade of experience in eye care and nearly two decades in healthcare overall. Dr. Karina has worked in various modes of eye care, but she feels most at home in the pediatric eye care setting because this is where doctors make the most impact on children's ability to learn in school. Vision health correlates with the ability to read and understand, so Dr. Karina is attentive to noticing even the most subtle behaviors and test results during comprehensive eye examinations. She is also well prepared to manage urgent care eye conditions such as abrasions, red eye, or infections. She encourages patients to call their Optometrist first for an appointment in case of urgent eye conditions. Dr. Karina prides herself on being able to connect with people from all walks of life and age groups, given her empathetic nature.

Healthcare is what Dr. Karina grew up around. Her mom is also a doctor, so being a healthcare provider is in Dr. Karina's DNA. When not seeing patients, Dr. Karina prioritizes spending time with family, listening to music or stand-up comedy, attending events for business networking or environmental causes, and living in gratitude for every gift life has provided.

Dr. Karina is also able to conduct exams in Russian and Spanish.

Dr. Alexis (Lexy) Scatchell

Dr Lexy: Dr Scatchell was born and raised in Chicago. She attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, for undergraduate studies. This is where she acquired her Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree and decided on her career path. She always knew she was interested in patient care; it was just a matter of her chosen category. In her last year of college, her biology program had a career seminar class; every week, a different doctor spoke to the class about their jobs. When the Optometrist visited and shared information about her career, Dr Scatchell knew this was her calling.

After College, she applied to Optometry school and ended up choosing New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. Boston quickly became a city she held near and dear to her heart, a close second to Chicago. She is now in her 18th year of practice and will be the first to tell you how much she loves Optometry. She has been known to speak at Chicagoland grammar schools about her career, what it entails, and what her exams yield for the patient. Dr Scatchell loves her ‘little patients’ and welcomes any pediatric exams in her practice, along with the adult population she sees daily.

Dr Scatchell has 11-year-old twins, and most of her free time is spent with family and attending various sports events for her children. Outside of that, Dr Lexy can be found squeezing in a Peleton boot camp, baking or decorating something delicious for friends and family, or exploring a new restaurant with her husband.

Have your eyes examined today and meet our excellent Doctors.
